With over 200 million users Facebook provides companies with a great opportunity to reach new and existing customers, and not just high school or college age users anymore. The fastest-growing demographic on Facebook right now is users over 35 years old.
Back in 2007 Facebook began allowing users to create "pages" separate from their personal accounts but with similar functionality.
